David is a founding partner of LGP, which grew out of the practice that David began in the Berkshires, in 2001. David is a graduate of Washington College of Law and the American University. He previously founded Lazan Trute and Robbins, a law firm located in Dade County, Florida, where he practiced law from 1969 until 1999. From 1974 until 1976, David was Municipal Judge for the Town of Bay Harbor Islands, Florida.

David principally handles real estate and corporate transactional matters, including real estate purchases, sales, leases, development and financing. David has represented purchasers and sellers of local ski resorts, industrial parks, restaurants, magazines, a children’s summer camp, commercial buildings, bed and breakfasts and a solar farm. Additionally, he represents a regional and local moving and storage company, a local trucking company, a country club and real estate brokers. David represents most local and many national lenders as closing counsel, including Salisbury Bank and Trust, Lee Bank, Berkshire Bank, South Adams Savings Bank, Pittsfield Coop, Greylock Federal Credit Union, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Sovereign Bank. He also serves as a title agent for Chicago Title Insurance Company and Old Republic National Title Insurance Company.

David is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Berkshire Bar Association, the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts, the Florida Bar, and the Bar of the Supreme Court. He is a member of Great Barrington Rotary Club and is a director of Hudson Valley Fresh, a dairy cooperative. He has also served as a Trustee of BerkShares and as a Director and Treasurer of Community Health Associates, a visiting nurse association. David has earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting the highest level of professional excellence as determined by peer evaluations from members of the Bar.

David has authored A Tenant’s Guide to Leasing Business Property, Understanding the Basics (Septic Systems, Wells, Radon, Asbestos, Hazardous Wastes, Formaldehyde and Lead in Berkshire County, Massachusetts), and Buying, Selling, Financing and Building a Home in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

In 1997 and 1999, David organized and led two successful sailing expeditions from Florida to Newfoundland aboard his ketch, Pathfinder. David was admitted to membership in the Ocean Cruising Club, a UK organization and was general counsel to the Seven Seas Cruising Association.

David and his wife, Judi, moved from Florida to the Berkshires in 1999. They reside in Great Barrington with Molly, their Tibetan Terrier.
