Alex, a founding partner, is a civil litigator who also handles zoning, permitting and other land use matters. She has served as Managing Partner since LGP’s inception. Alex was formerly a partner in the respected Boston civil-litigation firm of Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak & Cohen, P.C. In 2000, she moved with her family to Berkshire County and joined the real estate, tax and estate planning law firm of Hovey & Koenig, LLP as of counsel. At Hovey & Koenig, LLP, Alex primarily handled real-estate and land-use litigation. She worked as of counsel for Hovey & Koenig, LLP until August, 2003, when she, David and Peter established Lazan Glover & Puciloski.
In her civil litigation practice, Alex has represented both businesses and individuals in the areas of real property, business, contract, insurance coverage, insurance defense (including actions on behalf of title insurance companies to clear title), and general tort defense. In addition, she represents clients with regard to land use regulation, including issues both of residential and commercial zoning and permitting both before local boards and in court. She has also served as a court-appointed mediator.
Alex received her undergraduate degree from Williams College in 1988, majoring in Russian, Soviet and East European Studies. After working for a year in the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, she attended Northeastern University School of Law, from which she received her J.D. in 1992.
Alex is a Corporate Trustee of The Trustees of Reservations, and is a Member of its Business Support Committee, 2010-present; she has served as a court-appointed mediator, is on the Litigation Committee of the Real Estate Bar Association, and is a Member of the Planning Board of the Town of Alford. She served as a Director of the Sheffield Land Trust and as a Member of its Land Protection Committee, from 2004-2009. Alex is a former Officer and Director of the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, from 2004-2010, and has been a volunteer member of the Foster Care Review Panel of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families since 2002.
Alex resides in Southern Berkshire County with her family and her Australian Shepherd, True, who is regularly at the Great Barrington Office.
